Works on Fractions, Decimals and Mixed numbers up to 10-digits
IMPORTANT, READ FIRST: For better productivity, this Fractions Calculator implements innovative User Interface which does not contain "=" operator. Just enter the first and second Fractions into left and right upper boxes (underscored) and hit the arithmetic operator Button ("+", "-", "x" or "÷"), thus saving the click. The result appears in the multi-line display beneath input boxes. Scroll the display viewport up and down to see the calculation history; swipe to left or right to swap the input boxes content.
OVERVIEW
Fractions Calculator "Fractal MK-12 / MK-12s" Ver 6.0 and higher works on any combination of Regular (e.g. 2/3) and Improper (e.g. 4/3) Fractions, Decimals (e.g. 3.14), Whole (like 12345) and Mixed numbers (e.g. 1 /3/4) up to 10-digit length. It performs four standard Arithmetic operations (Add "+", Subtract "-", Multiply "x" and Divide "÷") and three special unary operations on a single Fraction: • "R" key to Reduce fraction to its Lowest Terms, e.g. 2/4 = 1/2 • "D" key to convert Fraction to Decimal, e.g. 3/5 = 0.6 • "1/f" key to calculate the inverse Fraction, e.g. 2/3 (1/f) = 3/2
On-screen Keyboard contains several special keys: • "/" to enter Fractions (e.g. 2/3, 54/7) • "▭" to add blank space Mixed Numbers (e.g. 2 12/3) • "." for entering Decimals (e.g. 3.14159) • "±" to change the sign (e.g. from 3.14 to -3.14 and vice versa) • "↑" to move the last calculation result into the first input box. This is a convenient feature for so-called "chain calculations" like: 1/2 + 3/5 + 4/7 • "◀" Backspace • "C" to clear the content of input boxes and calculation history
Example 1. Reduce the Fraction 42/56 to the Lowest Terms • Tap on the 1st input box and enter the Fraction 42/56 using digit keys and "/" • Click on the "r(f)" key to get the result displayed as: 42/56 = 3/4
Example 2. Calculate: 3/4 + 1 2/5 • Tap on the 1st input box and enter the Fraction 3/4 using digit keys and "/" • Tap on the 2nd box and enter Mixed Number 1 2/5 using digit keys, "▭" and "/" • Click on the "+" key to get the result displayed as: 3/4 + 1 2/5 = 2 3/20
Example 3. Convert Mixed Number 2 3/20 to Decimal • Tap on the 1st input box and enter Mixed Number 2 3/20 using digit keys, "▭" and "/" • Click on the "D" key to get result displayed as: 2 3/20 = 2.15
Note: this conversion may result in so-called "repeating decimals", which are of infinite length, thus displayed as approximate rounded value, e.g: 2 1/6 = 2.1666667
Example 4. Calculate the inverse Fraction of 2 3/20 Step 1. Tap on 1st input box and enter Mixed Number 2 3/20 using digit keys, "▭" and "/" Step 2. Click on the "1/f" key to get the result displayed as: 2 3/20 = 20/43
Cellphones and Tablets
This Fractions Calculator runs on any Android Cell Phones and Tablets w/OS version 5 and higher (i.e. Lollipop / Marshmallow / Nougat / Oreo). For the best results, the screen size of at least 4.5" and screen resolution of 720 x 1280 and higher is recommended.
